Rural Capital Grant Scheme

The Scheme is a competitive, discretionary grant fund targeted at new and existing small businesses undertaking a business growth project. Priorities for the Scheme will be projects that

• support tourism development,
• establish new or protect lifeline rural services
• assist the social enterprises become sustainable
• assist in the implementation of energy saving /renewable energy
• create or safeguard jobs.

Applications to the Rural Capital Grant Scheme will only be accepted for projects that are ineligible for other mainstream funding and in particular the Lanarkshire Business Venture Fund or RDC Rural Priorities funding. The Scheme will only provide the minimum grant necessary to make the project happen and this should be clearly demonstrated in the application and appraisal.

The grant funding level will be a maximum of 50% towards eligible project costs with a maximum grant award of £10, 000 other than:

• For businesses planning and financial projections required to support an application to the Scheme, the grant funding is 50% towards eligible project costs up to a maximum grant award of £1,200.
• For tourism projects that enhance the quality of the tourism product and result in job outputs, the grant funding is a maximum of 50% toward eligible project costs with a maximum grant of £15,000
